John Cheney is part of the solar leadership team and advisor at CIG Companies. John Cheney has served as CEO, Founder, and/or managing partner of multiple solar companies such as: FTP Partners, Silverado Power (sPower), and MMA Renewable Ventures.
His perceptive leadership style has provided him with great success over the years. John led the team, as CEO at Silverado Power, that developed over 400MW of PPA projects. The project included 1,400 MW of pipeline that resulted in $1 Billion of projects. AIM/AES bought Silverado Power for $1.67 billion. While at MMA Renewable Ventures, as Co-Founder and Vice President of Sales and Business, John Cheney led the company into new markets of Commercial & Industrial clients.
In less than two years, John assisted in turning MMA Renewable Ventures into the largest financier of photovoltaic installations in the United States.
John is passionate about his work in the community. He actively supports the environmental policy through Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).
